Post-op - Day 9
I slept fairly well last night without the splint. I was a little nervous about hitting it while I was sleeping so I taped it to give it a little bit of protection and also to help with the swelling. I first taped under the tip with a long piece of tape and then brought it up the bridge of my nose. I pinched the tape underneath my tip to make it more snug. I took another piece and placed it above my tip at the lower portion of my bridge. I am going to continue to tape my nose and night and also during the day while I am home. I have read that it does help is post-op swelling after the splint is removed. Also, it is a comfort thing -- I feel my nose is more supported and protected with the tape on. The doctor also recommended doing a nasal massage a few times a day for the next two weeks. It is a little tender when I perform this massage but I know it will help.

Post-op - Day 8 Splint Removal
I had the splint removed today! I am so happy with the results. My bridge is swollen and so is my tip. He reassured me that it would go down and by month 4 I should see the actual true shape of my nose.

Day 5-7
I have not posted in a few days because not much has changed. My bruising has increasingly went down. I haven't been sleeping well but that could be too the splint being so itchy. On Sunday (day 5) my cast started to come lose. I called the doctor and they said it was ok to tape it myself until I come in Wednesday to have it removed. I have yet to have any pain recently. This procedure was so much easier than I expected. The worse part was day 2 with the bruising and swelling. I am glad I took off two weeks from work. I would actually be able to go back to work after being off a week, but that little extra time home with the girls is so much better.
Tomorrow is the big reveal! I get the splint off. I am hoping I can keep this one to wear at night to protect it from my husband flailing while sleeping and also to wear under my helmet during paintball.
